here we go with a mini update -

I've been thinking what to do with the old mylars, it's hard to get some new ones that fit properly (Pete Jones is on this already) So I've figured in the mean time, I'll paint them.

I figured paint them silver/chrome, or black. Here we go with a lick of silver/chrome; what do you guys think? It's pretty different to the actualy "chrome" on the window trims, but it doesn't look too bad on its own tho....

    Pics:

In this one you really can see the difference between the two:

Apart from that, I cleaned the garage today, which was a complete mess, and oh, a clean garage is so nice. Also got a nice new toy off Pete which came in handy cleaning up.
Done a bit more wetsanding and trialling the cutting compoud. the compound seems to work alright using man power, but It would be a whole lot easier using a buffer, although, the paint is only two coats thick, So I think most of it will dissappear if I use an electric buffer.

hmmm. that will do for now. expect some more updates towards the end of the week.

they're sposed to be 13x 6.5, very nice indeed. unsure of the offset tho, but I should be able to make them fit, Just by looking at them I'd say they'd be in 30's, but I'm really just geussing.

The rubber is supposedly formula ford spec rubber or something, but I'm geussing they're quite worn, cause the wheels were pretty cheap, but i'll see.

I'm planning on polishing the lips, and maybe repainting the black parts. in yellow. haha, no in black.

Always liked the look of the Globe Bathusts, I had them on my first Beetle. They are quite a classic design from the heyday of the golf and quite appropriate for the era.

Just make sure you get the right wheel nuts, they shouldn't be too hard to get hold of if they didn't come with the wheels. If they're flat seats make sure all of the holes have the washers in them.

              Enjoy!
